Velvet Revolver - Wed 19th January 2005 - Lauren's review

I went to VR on weds and here's a quick review for ur site!

'Super group' a name they don't like (as it links them to one off bands like ASIA) but definitely a name that suits this 5 piece which consists of 3 ex members of guns n' roses, the ex lead singer of stone temple pilots (and the one nobody remembers but was part of suicidal tendencies- another fab band) they stormed into the CIA on Weds 19th Jan 2005, with Slash confirming the welsh were 'the rowdiest crowd' - and we were!

They played a brilliant set that was over far too quickly - but they did throw a couple of GnR songs in to the mix to please the crowd - including 'easy' and 'Mr Brownstone' and an acoustic version of 'used to love her', with just Scott Weiland and Slash sat on stools on the stage. Slash kept the crowd entertained with his obligatory solo part, shown on the screens with a deep red sky moving behind him, making him look like the mighty giant of rock that he is. An amazing night, an amazing band... the futures here and its velvet.
