Phew, sorry about all that but this one is a bit of a biggy.

It was kind of a strange experience listening to this album for the first time. I was incredibly surprised by the amount of tracks that I knew from TV programs, radio and commercials. I was also very pleasantly surprised by the amount of tracks that I liked. A lot.

The album itself has a surreal quality even in the packaging. A pulsing red LED on the box kept going night and day for around two years before it finally stopped. I thought it was a nice touch but it's bloody hard to sleep with the room going red at the same rate as your heart. Still, If I miss it then apparently I can change the batteries if I can get to them.

The recordings are taken from Pink Floyd's live performances in the UK and Europe. The fact that they are performed so well means that, unlike most other bands live offerings, these 2 CDs can be played without skipping. There is a huge amount of variety in the tracks from the sung but wordless Great Gig In The Sky to the rock classic and UK chart topper Another Brick In The Wall (Part Two). There is also a good time range of Floyd like tracks from more recent album The Division Bell to Dark Side Of The Moon.

The album itself appears to be cleverly put together to suit every mood. If your chilled then tracks like Comfortably Numb can add to the experience. If your sad then tracks like Sorrow or Keep Talking can fit the mood perfectly. It would seem that it doesn't matter what mood you're in this album will relax you while still occasionally sending a shiver down your spine to check if you're awake.

This album was rather expensive for two CDs but then again I've seen the vinyl version on sale for a damn site more. One thing I can say is that Pink Floyd, despite being around for over 30 years, are still fresh, original and most certainly mellow.

I'm off for a lie down, a cigarette, and a beverage. And of course, I'll put this album on when I'm good and ready.
