COAGULUS SPEAKS - WELL, TYPES!

Rob tells the world the sort of week that he's had and any events that have taken place. This may also serve as a sort of site history page. But will probably just be apologies and excuses knowing me, and I do!

  Up to 16 April 2000
No sooner do I say that things are picking up, they die again. Anyway, I don't have much time to speak this time but my new Coamulus site is starting to take shape although, due to having to DOS FTP everything onto the webspace, I couldn't get more than four pages and two downloads up. But there you go. There is some new stuff here also in the gallery mainly. Go and have a look. I will be back once my FTP prog is working again. What a pain! See ya!

PREVIOUSLY - ON COAGULUS SPEAKS (WELL, TYPES!)

Up to 5 March 2000
I must say that things are beginning to pick up again. So what has been happening....

1.Hello Thermite
After being away for quite a few months, Thermite has kindly scanned in the photographs from the Glastonbury festival of last year. These will be put up next week honest. Hopefully, I will be able to persuade him to write a few new articles for this site soon too.

2.Mods and new MP3 soon
I have got my Amiga back up and running so I'll soon be able to put up some more MODs up. I also have found a tape containing two of the most embarrassingly awful pieces of music I've ever attempted to cobble together - The Destruxyun '90 sessions. Not having any scruples at all, I'll have no qualms about putting them up soon but I don't know what the Sherrif (he of TigerBite - see links) will think as he's on them too. It'll be revenge for the dodgy photos of me on his site!! Heh he!

3.Coagulus breeds
Not as promising (to me that is) as it first appears. I am working on a new spin-off site which will be dedicated to the Amiga. I hope to move the Amiga related articles to that but mirror them here. The site will hopefully be called CoAMulus (har har har - good one) and be up during April I hope! Anyway, That's it for this week so I'll see you soon!

Up to 27 February 2000
I have been trying to get a large number of things ready for my site but as usual, I've lost them somewhere! I am getting a number of MOD files ready for upload and Blitz Basic is back up and running sort of but as nothing particularly major has happened since we last spoke (!), I'll leaave you to it. Catch you later dudes!

Up to 20 February 2000
Know how I said that things would be back to normal. Well oops, they weren't. Only a few new things on the site and nothing of note to report here so I'll see you later. Alright!

Up to 23 January 2000
I know been a while yet again! But I will be back again after sobering up.

1.BLOODY SABBATH
Seeing as how the mighty Black Sabbath have split up, I have placed an MP3 of me trying badly to do part of Paranoid in the DOWNLOAD section. This was recorded in 4 takes with no error correction so it isn't that great! If anyone with rights to this track (I only do the first two verses and the solo), and I will happily remove it. This is just a demonstration for a later feature on recording music using just a PC and some instruments. So there.

2.Hello Louise!
As me old mucker Louise has kindly put a link to this site, it's only fair that I return the favour. So in the links section you will find a link to her homepage. Good oh! See you next week!

Up to 2 January 2000
It’s been a while again and again I am apologising profusely! But I'm back again after finally sobering up after Christmas/New Year. What has been going on since we last met...

1.Happy New Millennium. What a party!!
On December 31 1999 I spent the evening at a party organised by Owain (who has two articles in the Linux section this week!) and Tanya. Lets see if I can say hello to all who went. Hi to Owain, Tanya, Phillip, Gareth, Julie, Steve (1), Debbie, Steve (2), Dennis (the cat!), Martin, Penny, Jeane and probably others too! It was fancy dress and as a last minute thiing I went as Lord Byron the famous poet! Others include Joan of Arc, King Harold I, William Wallace, WA Mozart, Axl Rose, Albert Einstein, Margaret Thatcher, Albert Einstein, A nurse and Jeff (Phillip came as Jeff, who didn't turn up!). Special mention to Jim who phoned all the way from Ohio for around 45 minutes! A Happy New Millennium is wished to all! And hope your feeling better after throwing up... you know who you are!!!

2.Finally got the site back to normal!
After the New Computer (see previous), my files for the site were temprarily lost. I have eventually found most, if not all of them and work can now continue back at a weekly rate. My apologies but hey, I've been drunk!

3.Off with his Head!!!
Well, not quite. After years of deliberation, I've finally joined the realms of short-haired people. It was my New Year's resolution to have a haircut! It's very cold on the old bonce in this weather but the resolution was a darn site more permanent than giving up smoking (maybe later!).

4.Well...
Thats it for this week. I promise to get some of those MOD files from my friends online as soon as I can. Catch you later.

Up to 19 December 1999
It’s been a while and I am apologising profusely! But I'm back now and I don't give a sh*t! What has been going on since we last spoke over a coffee and a few cigarettes (!)...

1.NEW COMPUTER - WHAT A PAIN!
A huge 'Thanks' go out to the mighty Dan for helping me to finally upgrade my computer. I now have an AMD K6 2 400 with RivaTNT AGP graphics! This has been why the site hasn't been updated lately but it does mean that I will be able to review lots more things as my machine is up to current speeds! I'm having a fun Christmas, hope you are too!

2.A Welshman in Florida
Well, me old mucker, James has gone of to the US of A for a while to work the lucky beggar! I think that I've managed to persuade him to do articles for the Site under the title, 'Our Man In The US'. Hopefully, he will do an article for next weeks update but as he'll be settling in, who knows.

3.Apologies Owain.
James' brother Owain, who still resides within these borders, had written two articles for the new Linux section. One of these is a addendum/correction to my Ten Things article, the other was a new piece. Sadly, my drive I had the old mail backed up to died completely and everything was lost. Including my email address book. Please mail back!

4.Thank you for the music
To coincide by my impressively long computer music feature (in the Tech and Music sections), I have got permission from the twins, James and Owain, to put their music modules onto my site. These will shortly be found in the Download section and, if you have Modplug (PC) installed or a player capable of playing Modules (XMMS - Linux, WinAmp - Win, AmiAmp - AmigaOS although the Miggy has countless other players), you can listen to them in all their glory. Cheers mates!

5.We kick ass!
I'm speaking metaphorically of course! I am referring to a pub quiz that Owain, James, Jeff and Tanya along with myself partook in on Tuesday night! We didn't get less than third place in any of the rounds and got joint first in one of them. An excellent prize was bestowed upon the team in the form of a single T-Shirt. After much deliberating on who gets it (stupid prize for a team game!). I ended up with it! Sorry about the Phileas Fogg type dialog then!

Up to 5 December 1999
It’s been a pretty quiet week for Coagulons everywhere (well, me anyhow). I do have a lot of plans though so in the best spirit of things, here’s this weeks exiting episode of… Coagulus Speaks (well types anyway)…

1.My A1200 is dying.. Sob
My beloved A1200 which admittedly, has looked like sh*t for about two years now, now has a dead keyboard. If you look in the picture of Dan sat at it in the Gallery or in the background of the big picture of me in the about me section, you’ll see what I mean. Luckily though it’s still up to the job of testing my creations and playing games. Programming is easier and cheaper under WinUAE anyhow. But it is a bad sign.

2.Linux is reinstalled. So here's a new section.
It's true! I’ve had many problems installing a new version of it. Linux Mandrake, a special version for PC Answers magazine, installed lovely but then despite giving me two login accounts (including root!), failed to logon. Red Hat 6.1 given away with the long overdue but essential Linux Magazine, wouldn’t install from CD and the bootdisk didn’t work! I eventually got around the problem by booting my old Red Hat 5.2 CD and swapping it with the 6.1 CD once started! A botched job yes, but a working solution! Expect some lovely Linux emulator reviews and articles shortly! Anyway, the new Linux section can be found within Technology.

3.Music Maestro!
I’ve been sorting out my Amiga MOD collection (which is how I noticed my keyboard is up the spout!). I’ll be bringing you some of them as soon as I can. In fact, there should be some in the download section next week! I’m also writing some new rock/metal which I hope to commit to MP3 shortly along with a possible remix of our Bismuth track Aggressive Executioner MP3 from the download section. Could be um… interesting. This is because Gareth, he of Tigerbite (see links), has been doing this very thing so I though I’d get in on the action!

4.Appeal.
Coagulus is lonely, he has to write all of the articles and material for download himself. He has room for much more so if you think you can submit something for appearance on this site, be it a review or downloadable object, then please, please, don’t hesitate to call!

5.Weekly again.
Well after much faffing about with the schedules of this site, I’ve come to the conclusion that weekly is best. So I’ll see you next week!

Up to 21 November 1999
I'm still here. So what has happened

1.Forget fortnightly!
Well, I tried updating every fortnight and it just doesn't work. The time between updates is just too long. So I'm going to update this site whenever I have a new item or article for it. Some help from you lot would be appreciated y'know! I have a lot of pages and stuff, so I'll trickle it onto the site over the next few weeks. See you, whenever!

Week 24 October to 6 November 1999
My time available for work on this site has gone down a bit due to work. But I'm still here..

1.Coagulus goes fortnightly
Yes, it's true. As of this week, Coagulus will be updated every two weeks. I simply wasn't able to rush the pages out on the weekend while still fitting in my already minimalist social life! So there should be more stuff added on each update! There are only a few new bits and bobs this week but in two weeks there'll be dobbarloads of new articles. I have actually managed to persuade a couple of other people to do some! Sorry about the lack of new stuff in the download and gallery sections. Work on these is progressing but at a snails pace!

2.Still Employed.
Things appear to be going well at Gwent Police. Let's hope I can stay for a good while so my PC (and Amiga) can get some much needed powerups. I can't review Amiga emulators too well until my Amiga is fast enough to do them justice. Well, that's my excuse for no reviews anyway!

Week 17 October to 23 October 1999
My pages aren't finished I'm afraid due to me not being able to spend much time on ye olde computer this week. But what has happened...

1.Employed... Good Lord!
I am starting my first weeks work since June on Monday. I have taken a temporary post with Gwent Police at the Police Headquarters in Cwmbran. I will be working for the Comms section so a big HELLO to me old mate Louise who works in IT! Hopefully I'll be able to get all my finances in order now! Well, you never know!

2.Even more surprising... Bismuth!
Yes, for the first time in years (the dust on the instruments proved it), BI had a small reunion at the old practice room in Malpas. We rattled off a very good jam session (which was very non-metal! More like Santana!) and followed by committing a new version of our first song, Gutfest, to four-track. Sadly, as it had been a while, we mucked up and failed to get the vocals down but despite a few memory lapses, we still had it. Whatever IT may be! Groovy!

3.Apologies time.
I am sorry about the lack of new pages this week. I have hardly been in the flat all week so haven't managed to get any new, or finish any old, pages for the Sunday update. I am toying with the idea of going fortnightly but then that would involve another site revamp. Anyhow, I have gt plenty of ideas, if I get time to bring any of them to fruition! See you next week!

Week 2 October to 16 October 1999
My computer is just about back up to speed now. Just in time for the Sunday upload. Unfortunately that means that only four new pages has been added this week. Look on the bright side though. I have about 10 pages half completed for next week! See you soon!

Week 26 September to 1 October 1999
Im afraid that my computer is still giving me grief. I have managed to do some new things for the site but not as much as I'd hoped. Hopefully the PC will be OK from now on but who knows. So what has happened this week....

1.430!!!
Thats right, as I write this the website has had 430 hits since May 30 1999. I hope that some of you lot have actually been further than the index!!!! Drop us a line from the email page. Do us an article (please!?!).

2.Happy Birthday (?)
Well, I hit the ripe old age of 26 on Wednesday. To say that celebrations were subdued that day would really be an understatement. I had a card of my parents and a friend but that was it. I had dinner at my parents and that was that. I did have a good sesh at home with Lianne and her fiance on the Friday but no outside celebrations. I shall no longer expect any.

3.Bismuth On This Site!! (Finally!)
I've managed to finally get a reasonably OK quality MP3 made up of my old band Bismuth's track Aggressive Executioner. Recorded four years ago this was one of the high points of my life. I hope it meets to your approval, it's free. Thanks to fellow BI founders James and Owain Vaughan. Hope a reunion happens one day....

4.Thanks
Thanks to Chris-O for being the first emulator author contacted by myself regarding an issue with his coming-along-nicely Archimedes emulator Archie 0.6 to reply with suggestions. I'll review Archie as soon as I can work out how to grab screens from it. A link has been put in my links section to his site. Cheers.

Week 19 September to 25 September 1999
Im afraid that due to my computer and net connection playing up along with other external things happening, this site has nothing added. There should be a lot of new stuff including downloads next week so I'll see you then! Byeeee!

Week 12 September to 18 September 1999
Another quiet week, perhaps I should update every fortnight instead!

1.I couldn't keep the momentum up
Just one new review this week and a new download in the download section. I've been rearranging my furniture (and late spring cleaning!) in my flat so haven't had time to add much stuff. Expect a lot next week though, I promise. There is a review of a very good Amstrad emulator and a SAM coupe disk image of software I created in 1992 (!) for my real SAM. The disk image works fine in SimCoupe (which is reviewed next week!). I also think that the Glastonbury photos (or some of them at the very least) will be developed for next week! See you soon!

2.Cheers mate
Despite having a good healthy competition with this site for the hitcount for a while, I was honoured to have a link to my site on my mate Gareth's TigerBite website! Cheers mate! Check his site out from our links page.

3.Congratulations
Congratulations to my mate Anna on the birth of a 6lb baby girl on Wednesday 15th. Well done girl!

Week 5 September to 11 September 1999
A better week for articles. And it's time to stop being depressed and get on with my life!

1.Nothing much this week - NOT!!!!!
Yay!
Due to my sleep pattern being completely ruined by unemployment and stress, I had an all-nighter on Tuesday/Wednesday. This meant that all the outstanding articles have been worked on for this weeks (or next weeks at the latest) upload. I even managed to start work on my next game for y'all which will hopefully not take too long to write. The classic game article (classic movie isn't finished - doh!) has been placed and the Iron Maiden retrospective is very nearly finished and will definately be uploaded next week. Also, despite containing virtually nothing yet, the Programming section is in place! Plenty of new reviews and articles. I hope I can keep this momentum up!

2.I won't let things get me down!
Despite the fact that practically everything in the outside world is trying to destroy my spirit for good. I WON'T LET IT!! The blackballing of myself by an old friend whom I have spoken of previously on this page, has really hit me quite hard and also the job situation is still nonexistant despite my supposed "experience" and "skills". The latter has led to such a lack of cash that unfortunately I've had to sell my 3DFX card and my CD player for less money than either of them on their own just to keep myself and cats in food and power. My Sega Saturn and my HIFI have given up the ghost and apart from a very small amount of people, I've had to sit in this flat on my own and contemplate my navel. SO WHAT THE HELL! I'm alive, I have this site to keep me sane (!), two cats, fairly regular kareoke sessions, a few remaining friends and a great family so I'll survive!!! As Eric Idle sang -"You... Can't... Bring... Me.. Down... Bring Me Down!!!". OOPS!!, that was Suicidal Tendancies, I meant "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life". See you soon!!!

Week 29 August to 4 September 1999
Yet another slow week for articles. Please help!

1.Nothing much this week - again
Due to external circumstances which I won't go into, I have only been able to add about two or three new articles to the site. I have about five or six half written articles including two outstanding emulator reviews Iron Maiden, Glastonbury and Programming but haven't been able to finish them. Sorry. Also, the classic movie and computer game articles haven't yet been finished. I'm really sorry but my life is a bit of a mess at the moment. More next week you have my sworn oath on it...

2.Cheers
Thanks to Gareth who pointed out that the emu guide link from last week was shagged. It is now rectified, I hope! Cheers mate!
