Iron Maiden have
announced on their Website on the 10th of February that
former members Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith,
following two successful albums together, have rejoined
the band. This has come as a complete suprise as even
Kerrang magazine had reported just a day or two earlier
that Bruce and the IM crew had stated that nothing of the
sort was happening. Good god. How's that for a quick
U-Turn (not that I'm complaining mind you) There has been no mention on why the metal Elvis, Blaze Bayley, had left the band although there had been calls ever since his joining to quit. True the guy didn't have it completely his own way with the fans (lets face it, to a lot of them there is only one singer and they won't accept another) but no mention at all on why this happened. He is apparently starting a solo project up and expects to have an album out by Christmas. With Adrian back what about Yanick and Dave I hear you cry. Well, they're both staying! Yep, thats right I haven't completely lost my marbles. There will be three guitarists on stage! Some songs are being rewritten slightly to incorporate this. Now Maiden have six members hence the extremely crap pun at the top of this page! (PICTURE BORROWED FROM THEIR SITE - PLEASE DON'T SUE ME!) What they are doing is this (according to their website and interviews anyhow) :
Bruce Dickinson has said that he still plans to release another solo album shortly but will still give his all to IM . The summer shows kick off on the 9/9/1999 in Paris and the set and songs will be based on the forthcoming Ed-Hunter game by Synthetic Dimensions. Apparently there will be a 20-song soundtrack of Maiden songs voted for by fans. Scream like a banshee, fence like Zorro. This does however mean that Maiden has the first short haired vocalist since Di'Anno - the big question is, will Bruce be fitted with a wig for the performaces. hmmmm! |
