WELCOME TO LINUX!

It's always nicce when a new section arrives here on the shores of Coagulus Island. I just love compiling and typing up new pages! Anyhow, here is a short introduction to the section. By Rob..

  Welcome to Linux!

Welcome to the all-singing, all-dancing, all-for-nothing, always late (probably!) Linux section. Due to the fact that my PC has been playing up lately I have installed the lovely Linux back onto my PC. And here is a section to cover this. Of course, some articles will be doubled like emulator reviews but this should mainly contain new material. Hopefully, a few mates of mine will get off their ass and write something too.

Linux has been gaining in popularity pretty steadily for a few years now. A new magazine has been launched in the UK (Linux Answers) which provides novice users (like myself) with useful information on the running and upkeep of this fine OS. Also PC magazines are getting in on the act by regularly distributing Linux and software. It's all looking pretty good.

The PC is not the only place where you'll find this OS either. True, most, if not all of the distributions cater for Intel/AMD processors, Linux is also available for the Amiga and ARM along with probably quite a few others. Basically, as long as hardware drivers are provided and the Kernal can be compiled, the OS can be made to run (with more or less accuracy) on practically anything. Now that is cool.

As I grow in knowledge myself, I thought that instead of noting down what I do on bits of paper, I would use this site. So as my knowledge grows, this section will improve. At least that's the plan!

Please NOTE: Although I can grab screens and windows in er… Windows, I can't yet in Linux so until I get a grabber installed, this will be rather devoid in the screenshot department. Not for long I hope though.
