Brother William of Baskerville (Connery) arrives at a medieval monastory to unravel the mysteries that surround the place. Murders in strange circumstances are occuring and he, along with Christan Slater at his side, vow to solve this conundrum.

Playing like a medieval version of Seven, while there are no massive action sequences, car chases or comedy one-liners, this is a deeply engrossing film. Connery is superb as the sleuthing monk and Slater manages to act his way out of the scot's fomidable shadow.

This film has plenty of apparent explanation followed by twists. The music fits superbly and F Murray Abraham plays an impressive adversary to a tee. This is definately a different film. I'd love to go into this a lot more but it really would spoil the magic of such a great movie. Go an
