In order to make you believe that I don't
just play games all the time (I often wrestle with er...
chimps), here are the twenty best Amiga Games ever and
the computers that they started on. Um, oh all right
then, I do just play games all day! Ha ha aha ha hah ha
haha ha!
The
computers the games first came out on are shown as A-Amiga,
P-PC, S-Atari ST, C-Commodore C64
1.A-Moonstone
- Up to three players in this part board game part
medieval gore-em-up. Very satisfying.
2.A-Mega-Lo-Mania - God game with its tongue so
far in it's cheek, it's poking through.
"Ergonomically tewwiffic!"
3.S-Populous (+ sequel) - Original god games and
still great fun today. Earthquaaaaaaake!
4.C, A-Turrican (+ sequels) - Brainless for sure
but the best platform blasters ever!
5.A, P-Syndicate - Cannon Fodder meets Blade
Runner and the Bionic Man. 'Nuff said!
6.A-James Pond I+II- great, colourful, cutesy
games let down a little by average third and fourth
offerings.
7.P-Quake - converted masterfully. And requiring a
much lower spec computer than you'd think.
8.P-Monkey Island (+ sequel) - A great pair of...
adventures. Good humour and a progressive learning curve.
9.A-Alien Breed 3d (+ sequel) - The only close
Doom and Quake clones on the Amiga. Until Doom and Quake
came out that is.
10.A-Lotus Turbo Challenge (+ sequels) - Great
driving fun especially multiplayer. Old sprite style but
good.
11.A-Frontier (Elite II) - Great, huge and only
slightly buggy sequel to the mighty Elite. And fitted on
one 880K disk (with space!). Dodgy combat but engrossing
nonetheless.
12.A-Tetris Pro - Tetris had to be here somewhere,
and this is the best one.
13.A-Deluxe Galaga - GOD of Galaga 'tributes'. So
many extra features that listing them would kill you.
14.A-Speedball II - You know, sports games are so
much better when you can kill your opponents! Or just
tw*t them heavily!
15.A-Striker - Although even not violent sporting
games can be good too!
16.A-Battle Squadron - Need a vertically
scrolling, great looking shooter. This is it.
17.A-Nitro - Micro Machines meets Mad Max, years
before Micro Machines came out. Great fun.
18.A-Thunderhawk - Core's great action flight sim
with very little complexity but smooth and enjoyable.
19.S-Vroom - Probably the fastest 3d Racer ever on
the Amiga (try playing it with an 060!).
20.A-Zeewolf (+ sequel) - Graphics engine based on
the classic Zarch/Virus and gameplay based on Desert
Strike. This was a great game that even still came on one
disk!
Take a
look at those games and tell me if you don't recognise
all bar perhaps one or two at the most. These games
were/are so good that they got converted to every other
computer and console on the planet and small furry
creatures, known as 'Bliops'.

big. He's bigger than that tree over there. And the boat.
What am I saying? Why am I asking you?
