Band History
During the early Nineties we always talked about starting a band. The three of us wrote a lot of computer music and it was time to take it to
the next level. We liked death metal and Jim and Owain had bandied the name Bismuth around for a while but we hadn't written anything. I
found a bass in a skip (they both had guitars) and in 1995, wrote the lyrics to the first BI track - Gutfest. This song was incredibly quick to
write! I was in work, phoned the guys and told them that I was coming over in a few hours as I had some lyrics. By the time I got there the
music was written and all I had to do was tweak it so the lyrics fitted and write a bass line I could perform while doing the vocals.

The other tracks were born in the same way and shortly afterwards the website (see links) appeared. We never had a drummer but because
we all wrote computer music, the drum tracks were written in this way. Results were adequate. Sadly we never gigged as I think the music

would have gone down well.

BISMUTH NEWS (!)
On Sunday 31st August there was a mini Bismuth reunion as Jim was back from the US for a few weeks so we nipped down to Mirage and
played through the old songs for an hour.

On Sunday 7th September Bismuth and Toxic Cocktail ventured into the studio. Of course all BI songs were played and all were recorded
(without vocals due to technical problems) to audio tape (!) and good fun and KFC/Beer was had by all!

I'll dub the Bismuth vocals in the flat (when I eventually get these hallowed recordings) and put them up when they're ready!

Bismuth will live on in Toxic Cocktail as we cover them. Owain does the vocals at the moment but if I get better on the drums I might try. Also
it would be nice if Gareth gave them a crack. Or perhaps all of us! The download section has an early TC cover of Gutfest, the first ever BI
track and the reason we persevered. Not a bad effort especially as Owain and I hadn't played it for years! And Phil and Ian hadn't played it at
all! Oh, and I had never played the drums for it before!

Jim has gone back to America now so Bismuth is on hold once again util the net gets so fast, across Atlantic live recording is possible!
